Roosevelt Mosley is a Principal and Consulting Actuary at Pinnacle Actuarial Resources. Data and technology represent challenges to the insurance industry, with issues like Big Data, autonomous vehicles, and usage based insurance (UBI) being likely disruptors. Still, Mr. Mosley sees “the speed and pace of change… and the ability of insurers to be able to keep up” as possibly the greatest disruptive force facing insurance businesses.

The industry has traditionally been slow to change, and is now being forced to deal with “new” entrants in the insurance sector that are more nimble, He sees consumer expectations driving change and influencing the data and processes businesses embrace, forcing insurers to look at their infrastructure to become “leaner, quicker…able to make decisions faster.”
Mr. Mosley sees change continuing, and believes companies need to develop a process in order to respond to challenges as the come.
