Gamelah Palagonia

In Part 2 of this edition of Cyber Risk – The Threat…The Response (sponsored by Worldwide Facilities, Inc.), guest Gamelah Palagonia, Founder of Privacy Professionals, discusses the impact of technology, privacy and cyber risk on enterprise risk management.

Cyber risk is a Board and employee issue, according to Ms. Palagonia, “but more importantly it is an enterprise issue…. an enterprise risk that needs to be managed…from the top to the bottom.”

Ms. Palagonia points out that unlike other exposures, cyber risk and other privacy issues can be unpredictable.  She says it is important that risk management programs be adjusted and modified as laws change and hackers get more sophisticated.  “The problem is that the hackers and technologies are…ahead of businesses and people.”

Ms. Palgonia says middle market and small businesses are more at-risk than Fortune 500 companies because they don’t have the same resources available to them.  “She recommends that middle market and small companies hire a privacy professional. “That’s a new profession… an individual that is focuses completely on privacy protection.”
