NAMIC/AIA case on HUD Disparate Impact Standard at Supreme Court for ruling in 2014. spoke with Chuck Chamness, President and CEO of the National Association of Mutual Insurers, during the recent Joint Industry Forum in New York. We asked him how Mutuals faired in 2014, and for his comments on international regulatory standards, tort reform, and other issues such as the HUD Disparate Impact Standard.

Among the issues that face the insurance industry (and Mutuals) in 2014 is a lawsuit brought by NAMIC and the American Insurance Association (AIA) two years ago focused on the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Disparate Impact Standard. While the lawsuit was successful, the case has now moved on the Court of Appeals.  Mr. Chamness believes the Supreme Court will likely hear the case in 2014.
