He gives his perspective on the growth in the Cat Bond market and its impact on the Bermuda market, which is the leading global domicile for ILS with about $16 billion listed on the BSX. There were about 115 listed securities on the BSX, according to Mr. Wojciechowski. He says Bermuda is a “well-entrenched player in the specialty risk market” and when there is a new product introduced, “Bermuda is the logical place to…support market evolution and innovation.” Bermuda’s regulatory framework and concentration of “mind and management” make it attractive. Also, Mr. Wojciechowski, says the BSX has focused on providing exchange-related services that support the ILS market, as well as the more traditional insurance and reinsurance markets. The Bermuda Stock Exchange has 750 issuers (both debt and equity structures). The BSX works with NASDAQ for technology and plans to continue to grow its capital structure. The Third Annual Bermuda Convergence 2015 Conference is being held on November 11-13 for the ILS market. For more from SIFMA’s ILRS Conference, visit the WRIN.tv On Demand Library.
